Introducing... Send Points
Over the past few months, we鈥檝e been learning a lot about how our members are getting on with our Experiences. We鈥檝e been exploring some really interesting ways to help our members get more value out of their rewards, from 海角社区Feasts to YonDates (don鈥檛 ask), one thing that鈥檚 kept cropping up is how often our members want to use their points with their friends.
Before we launched 海角社区, we heard time and time again how frustrating rewards programs can be. Feeling like you need to jump through hoops just to use your own points was leaving people frustrated and to get any value from their points. The monetary value of points is always important, but we learned the flexibility to use them was becoming more and more important too.
So with those two big learnings in mind 鈥 that 海角社区 is infinitely better with friends and that points should be easier to use 鈥 we stopped messing about and just built the world鈥檚 best credit card feature to help them do that.
From the very start, we wanted to build a rewards program that was more accessible, more transparent and much, much easier to use and get value from. With send points, members can now effortlessly share their rewards with friends and family, or even pool their points together and get to that fancy new restaurant in half the time.
Send it, in just a few taps
As with all 海角社区 features, we鈥檝e really sweat the details so you don鈥檛 have to. Being able to move points around had to be just a few taps away and flexible enough to feed into our Experiences too. The end result is really, really slick (can you tell we鈥檙e proud of this one?):
- Head to the points area in the app and tap on the 鈥淪end points鈥 button.
- Pick the lucky friend of yours you want to send points to. You鈥檒l need to allow access to your contact book first. Don鈥檛 worry, 海角社区 will never see any of your friend鈥檚 details. Our engineers have used a super sophisticated hashing technique to keep everyone鈥檚 data private.
- Next, you鈥檒l be able to pick whether you want to send points for a particular Experience, or if you鈥檇 just like to do it out of the goodness of your heart.
- Lastly, you鈥檒l choose how many points you want to ping over. Add in a cheeky or cryptic message for the fun of it, and in typical 海角社区 fashion, just slide to send.
- Your friend will then get a notification letting them know about your incredibly selfless deed.
Why would you want to send points?
I asked around the office, and here are a few reasons you might want to send points to a mate:
- You want to pool your points together to see how many people can fit in an Unplugged cabin for a weekend
- It鈥檚 their birthday, and you're close enough that you want to give them something but not that close to know what they might like and you hope that dinner at BAO does the job
- Because you鈥檙e having a good day
- Because they鈥檙e having a bad day
- Because you lost a bet on how The Last of Us would end and you couldn鈥檛 believe Joel would do that
I'm sure you'll have your own reasons. Give it a go!
